The first week of motorcycle weather (meaning the temperature is at or above 40 degrees when Matthias leaves in the morning) was supposed to be really rainy, but he beat the rain on Monday and Tuesday because it just didn't come. Today it came, and it is like spring started. Literally. The tree outside of Oliver's windows that had NO green on it yesterday has all of the little seed pods (or whatever they are...I imagine they are full of pollen though) and tons of little leaves starting to come out of the branches. Suddenly, even though Matthias had been working on our lawn for about a week it started looking green, and I even seen red buds on the trees down the street. Now I'm just anxious to see what the bulbs are that are popping up, and all of the other fun spring surprises that come with the first spring in our own home. Winter lasted a whole month longer this year, so I have been dying for the warmer weather and a break from the gray. All of this green is getting me excited and I want to play outside with Oliver.

However, playing outside with Oliver is a little bit more complicated that normal because we've been potty training him. Warning: Pictures of adorable toddler in choo choo underwear to follow.
We put him in his "choo choos" Conference Weekend (the first weekend in April) and he's really good at keeping them dry. Although, he did wet himself the other day when Daddy came home. He was really excited...
He's even getting better at asking me instead of relying on me taking him, which is really nice.
About a month ago after I'd been putting him on the toilet both times he woke up along with the usual before bathtime potty time for a couple of weeks he started telling me he needed to go potty, and he would, and his diaper would even stay dry. However, we didn't have underwear yet, so about 4 weeks later when we had more of a resistant son we started. I wish we had started sooner because I'm a little bit afraid that we missed the window for early potty training even though I saw all of the signs. He still hasn't gone #2 on the potty, and gets pretty upset when he goes either in his choo choos or in his diaper (which he still wears for sleeping). He loves his choo choos more each day though, and gets really excited to see that they are dry. There's still hope!

Let’s hope that these April Showers lead to the “May Flowers” of no more diaper changes! Oliver has NOT liked diaper changes for a long time, so the extra effort of putting him on the potty is sooo worth it because of how willing he usually is. He is such a big boy!
