It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Wednesday night was the annual ward Trunk or Treat.  We decided to go as the Peanuts characters because Oliver would just make an adorable Charlie Brown.  Wouldn't you agree?

The best part is that he just kept snuggling and carrying around his Snoopy doll as adorably as possible.

We even decided to take him around to all of the game booths they had around the church.  This was the pumpkin cake walk, that he didn't do a very good job staying in the circle, but he did win a delicious Rice Krispies Treat.

He was really good at putting the bean bags through the holes.

And he was really interested in where they went.

He also did a really good job of gobbling the goblins.

Although for some reason he didn't even touch the yellow m&ms.  Someone must have told him about the snow.

Here's another bean bag game that he was really good at.  He put them right into the cans.

Oliver did so well the whole night, and everyone just loved him.  Not bad for intentionally keeping him up way past his bedtime (note all of the dark circles under his eyes).  But we had a blast and were really glad that we went!

We even got a decent family photo using the tripod and timer.  Matthias was Linus and I was Frieda (with my naturally curly red hair).

Better focus, worse framing.  We tried.

We also decided not to actually take Oliver around Trunk or Treating, deciding that it would be a little selfish, since we'd be eating the majority of his candy.  He did get some M&Ms that he calls "num num nums" and he loves them.  We did hand out tons of the good stuff, that we made sure to snack on on the way.  And we passed out peanuts, which Matthias's primary class loved because we were the Peanuts characters.

We were really excited about Halloween because we live right around the corner from a school that lots of kids walk to, meaning our chances of getting a lot of trick or treaters is high.  Unfortunately it's on a Sunday, so we'll be turning off our porch lights and probably hanging out upstairs all night.  We'll find out next year what a great neighborhood we live in for trick or treaters.

Happy Halloween!

Oliver's Antics

Oliver is awesome.  He is so creative and has such a fun personality that keeps us laughing and smiling.  Well, most of the time.  He's also insanely smart.  He can't really say much, but he sure understands what we say.

Anyway, we all remember Oliver's love for macaroni.  Well, this time I used a bigger pasta (because it was all I had...) and Oliver discovered the Chinese finger trap!

Luckily he figured his way out of it.

By the way, don't you love his crazy hair? I hadn't messed with it at all that day.

Oliver loves to communicate by pointing at things.  Matthias and I were busy getting our house ready for the big Halloween party (that I totally didn't take pictures of.  Lame!) and Oliver woke up really happy, so I took him outside to say hello to Daddy.  On our way in, he pointed at his beach hat, that has been hanging on our coat hooks since who knows when.  We put it on him and he was so happy to be wearing his hat, and he kept on posing perfectly for some pictures.

Strike a pose!

You've got to love his 7 tooth grin.  This is my new favorite picture of him.

And eventually the hat did come off.  And you can tell that his New Hampshire vest definitely doesn't match his shirt, but he's just so cute I can't stand it!  Even with hat hair!

p.s.  That blurred out toy in the background is a clue as to our family's Halloween costumes.

And lastly, the other night I was cleaning up dinner while hearing Oliver and Matthias laughing soooo hard during bath time.  Matthias was making funny sounds and Oliver thought it was hilarious, so I grabbed the camera.  Unfortunately, Oliver got excited when he saw me,  stood up, and slipped and hit his poor little bum on the knob of the drain cover.  It even bruised :(

After some snuggles though, he was back to his happy giggly self.

Once we got his pajamas on, it was story time.  We were reading about Fruits and Vegetables from A to Z.

And Oliver decided he was hungry.

It's impossible to catch on camera, but he was sticking his little tongue out to try and eat the fruits and vegetables.  I think that's a mango he was going after.  He thinks it's so funny and just laughs and laughs, which makes me laugh and laugh with him.  If only it weren't a library book so I wouldn't be so disgusted every time he succeeds in licking it.

Another library book he loves is called "Bunny Eats Lunch".  It's about a bunny who likes to chew things, and when he has his carrots, celery, or mashed potatoes, he says "Yum".  So now Oliver can read the "num, num" book all by himself.  He flips through the pages saying "num, num, num" the whole time.
